1. Request account deletion
- 1
Email from your account address
Write to privacy@kepnote.com from the email address associated with your Kepnote account. Use the subject “Delete my Kepnote account.”
- 2
Confirm the scope
Tell us that you want both the account and associated cloud data deleted. Do not include a password, one-time code, API key, token, or export archive.
- 3
Complete verification
We may ask for limited information to confirm you control the account. We will confirm receipt and complete the request within the period required by applicable law.
Start a deletion request
Send this message from the email address tied to the Kepnote account. If you cannot access that address, explain that in the message so we can offer another reasonable verification method.
privacy@kepnote.com2. What account deletion covers
After we verify a valid request, we delete or de-identify the account's data from active Kepnote systems, including:
- profile and sign-in records, including email, display name, protected credential data, and linked Google identifier;
- cloud-synced memories, notes, links, attachments, recordings, and storage objects;
- generated titles, summaries, transcripts, extracted entities, events, and reminders;
- managed semantic-search records, sync state, device sync metadata, and processing receipts; and
- service entitlement records that are not required for legal or accounting purposes.
We also direct processors that hold covered information on our behalf to delete it according to our agreements and their backup lifecycles.
3. Information that may be retained
Limited records may remain when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, accounting, enforcing our Terms, or documenting that we completed a deletion request. Residual copies may remain temporarily in protected backups until those backups expire through their normal lifecycle. They are not restored to active use except for disaster recovery or legal necessity.
We cannot delete copies you exported, downloaded, shared with another person, submitted independently to an AI provider, or stored in your own device or cloud backups.
4. Remove data stored on your device
Account deletion does not remotely reach into a device to erase its local Kepnote library. On a signed-in device, using Sign out first attempts to save every pending local change to the linked Premium account. Only after that check succeeds does the app remove its local memories, attachments, reminders, cached exports, and sync identity. If the final sync cannot be verified, sign-out stops and keeps the local library so it is not silently lost. A library retained by an older app version under a different account is also kept until its owning account signs in.
You can also remove the entire local library using the operating system's clear-app-data control or by uninstalling Kepnote after confirming that you no longer need the data. Files you previously exported or shared outside Kepnote are separate copies and are not removed by app sign-out.
Your operating system or device backup service may retain a separate backup. Manage those copies through the device or backup provider. Kepnote cannot remove them for you.
5. Delete only certain data
When the delete action is available for a memory, you can remove it without closing the account. With sync active, Kepnote tombstones the corresponding cloud record so it disappears from synchronized libraries. That operation does not yet guarantee immediate erasure of every related object-storage or semantic-processing copy. To request verified cleanup of those copies—or to correct or delete a specific category of account information while keeping the account—email privacy@kepnote.com and describe the request.
6. Before you delete
- Export anything you need to keep before requesting deletion.
- Protect the export: it is a plain, unencrypted archive that may contain attachments and sensitive memories.
- Remember that account deletion is intended to be permanent and deleted cloud content may not be recoverable.
- Separately cancel any future app-store subscription if one exists; deleting an account does not automatically control an app-store billing agreement.
